MEET THE MAKER: JENNIE BOWMAN DESIGNS
THROUGHOUT THIS QUARANTINE, THE FUTURE OF SMALL BUSINESSES HAS BEEN A HOT TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. I’VE BEEN READING ARTICLES AND LISTENING TO EXPERTS, AND A QUOTE FROM A FELLOW BUSINESS OWNER HAS BEEN RINGING IN MY HEAD ALL WEEK; MY SMALL BUSINESS IS JUST AN UMBRELLA FOR OTHER SMALL BUSINESSES.
I mulled over this phrase, and started listing all of our makers in my head. So many of our favorite brands in the store are not mass produced, but rather the hard work and dedication of artists, craftsmen, and creators. During this time, while I’m outside of the shop walls, I plan to introduce you to makers, creators and dreamers whose products are featured in Knock Knock.
First up: Jennie Bowman of Jennie Bowman Designs!
I met Jennie a few years ago, and after I got my bearings in business, I was (finally) ready to welcome high-quality, handmade items into the shop. We started exclusively carrying them in Elizabethtown, and I am happy to announce that after we are able to reopen, her designs will also be in our Hershey location!
Jennie hand-sketches all of her designs, and with the help of her husband, laser-cuts designs out of birch wood. She then hand-paints, and assembles the pieces you see in her collections. She has been featured in Susquehanna Style Magazine, and donates earrings to the Wig Room at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Breast Cancer Coalition in Lebanon.
Browse her collection here, and bask in the natural goodness that is Jennie Bowman Designs. Thank you for supporting small businesses of all kinds.
Stay safe, healthy, and well,
Emily
